Functional Testing

Specialised testing that takes the guesswork out and helps us identify the underlying cause of your health concerns.

  • The health of your gut is integral to the health of your whole body. Microbiome testing is an invaluable tool that gives an in-depth overview of your gut and how it may be impacting your health.

The Co-biome test combines metagenomic sequencing with important gut health markers to give insight into gut motility, inflammation, leaky gut, hormone & oxalate detoxification, microbial diversity, bacterial overgrowths, parasites + more.

Who may benefit from a microbiome test? Anyone experiencing:

    • Digestive issues including IBS, IBD, food sensitivities, indigestion

    • Skin concerns such as acne, eczema & psoriasis

    • Mental & cognitive concerns such as anxiety, depression and brain fog.

    • Poor immune function

    • Autoimmune conditions

    • Chronic inflammation

    • Metabolic and weight concerns

    • Hormonal imbalances such as excess oestrogen & associated symptoms

    • Ongoing nutritional deficiencies

Conventional stool testing is focused on an isolated parasite or bacteria, whereas functional microbiome testing looks at the composition of your entire microbiome and your gut function, in addition to parasites & pathogenic bacteria.

I will interpret your results in relation to your symptoms, health history and health goals and then create a personalised treatment plan including specific foods, herbal and nutritional supplements to restore balance and improve your overall well-being.

  • Minerals are essential for many different physiological processes. Imbalances can affect bone health, mental & cognitive health, immune function, energy production, cardiovascular health, metabolism and hormonal balance. Heavy metal toxicity is an increasing concern and can have a significant impact on development & neurological health.

By analysing a small sample of your hair, we can gain a comprehensive assessment of your body’s mineral and heavy metal content and potential imbalances.

This information helps to uncover the root cause of your health concerns and directs treatment.

Find out more about hair mineral testing here or book in a consult if you’d like to order this test.

  • Adrenocortex Stress Profile (salivary): This one of the most reliable tests to assess your stress hormones and adrenal function. It’s particularly useful in cases of chronic stress and anxiety, fatigue, lethargy and burn out.

Sex hormones (blood or saliva): Hormone testing can provide valuble insights into the delicate balance of hormones in your body and identify where imbalances may be occuring.

DUTCH hormone testing (urinary): This is the most advanced hormone test to assess stress and reproductive hormones including your body’s detoxification of oestrogen. It’s particularly useful in finding the underlying cause of complex hormonal issues.

  • Genetic profiling is useful for getting to the root of unexplained health issues or taking a proactive approach to your health.

It involves a simple mouth swab to assess 92 genes and 113 SNP’s (genetic variations) involved in digestion, energy, hormones, stress, mental & cognitive health, inflammation, detoxification, DNA protection & repair. You’ll receive a comprehensive 100+ page report highlighting your genetic strengths and areas that may need some extra support, as well as a personalised treatment plan based on your results.

  • Copper and zinc have a strong relationship in the body and imbalances can be an underlying driver of anxiety, mood disturbances and hormonal issues. In many cases symptoms won’t shift until this imbalance is resolved. By testing your plasma zinc, serum copper and ceruloplasmin we can calculate your copper:zinc ratio and levels of free copper to properly assess for copper toxicity. Regular retesting is important to monitor treatment progress.

  • Conventional thyroid testing typically only includes TSH, which doesn’t give us the full picture of how your thyroid is functioning. If you are experiencing any symptoms of thyroid dysfunction it’s important to do a comprehensive thyroid panel including TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies, Thyroglobulin Antibodies and TSH Receptor antibodies.

A thorough assessment of your thyroid not only picks up on things that a simple TSH test may miss, but also allows for early detection and prevention of thyroid disease.

  • Up to 80% of people with IBS actually have a condition called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). Symptoms include severe bloating, gas, irregular bowel habits, reflux, abdominal pain, fatigue, nutrient deficiencies and intolerance to certain carbohydrates, fibres and probiotics.

SIBO occurs when bacteria that are normally present in the large intestine migrate up to your small intestine where they shouldn’t be. They begin fermenting food, leading to excess production of hydrogen or methane, which is responsible for the symptoms.

The SIBO test is done from the comfort of your home and involves drinking a solution and collecting breath samples to assess for the presence of hydrogen and methane.
